Is this solely for Pro Pack, or do those of us who stuck with 4.0.3 have to re-register as well? I think we should be supportive of registering CL products. Letting a software company know you've installed their product successfully is no more a "fight the fascist pigs, man" issue than sending in your dryer's product registration card to Whirlpool. The only time I was surprised by this was when I bought a king-size box of cereal from Sam's Club that had a toy inside, and a month later received mail informing me that the toy was being recalled because it was dangerous. Do you bemoan the fact that Hasbro used Sam's Club's database to track all their sales across the country, or do you applaud their commitment to see to it everyone knows about the potential danger? As far as trying to use non-registration as a guarantee of upgrade path, I can only assume you don't own any Adobe products. All of their upgrades and offers are strictly time sensitive and half an hour on the phone with their customer service people will not get them to budge an inch. Trust me on this one. That said, I would certainly expect any company that maintains a registry of product owners to bear the responsibility of notifying them of defects and how to repair/replace them (e.g. the toy car). Much as I appreciate Steve Cooper posting his (premature?) notice here, there's no guarantee I would have read it or that I'm even a member here. Email is a more appropriate medium for these kinds of notices.
