Answers itself. Gateway does not support my specific model, so I cannot get drivers for my printer - ever.
Specific to your situation, though . . . Transient or ghost files might be a result of competing / incompatable virus protections - check to see if you have two products running and, if so, play with the settings and see if you can get a better mix? :)
