Subject: Another Dud from DAZ

Quote - > Quote - I agree, there was a lot of great clothing for that generation. Some of mypersonal faces are at X-urge and actually easy to use with m4 by making the body invisible lol. This works with full body armor anyway easier than converting

Yes.  There was also more variety, at least it seemed to me.  I like fantasy as much as the next person, but I also use stuff like sports uniforms.

It also seems like a lot of today's clothing isn't as detailed and well-made as the older stuff.  Maybe it's because prices have dropped so much.  Or maybe it's the dark side of one-outfit-fits-all?

Yes. Problem is although the clothing was made for a male, people want to use it on a troll for example, mixed with a bit of female, so certain details have to be left out or FBM for all those figures had to be made. However PA's are getting better at the one size fits all thing. At first nobody used all the tools available, but that is changing. EG some PA's struggled to add movement morphs that worked for all shapes. Those same PA's can do it now. So slowly the quality is improving, but won't happen over night.

Quote - Long mail of sales data. I was rolling my eyes but read it anyway. It made me laugh.

Well done.

One question: how do you do 1 click weight mapping?

 Glad you liked it.

Poser 2014 - Figure Tab - Merge All Zones To Weight Maps

As Vilters has pointed out, it isn't in the manual, but there it is.  1 click and all your spheres or capsules are converted to weight maps.  Much, much easier than doing every body part, by each direction, by hand.

There was more imagination back in the V3 days. Vendors tried to make things that hadn't been done before. Sports outfits, Spacesuits, Western gear, Dragons, etc etc etc. Anything new was good.

Then over time the stores ( all) realised that sexy female outfits outsold everything else, so that's what the vendors focused on. As buyers we are are as much, if not more, responsible for this than the vendors.

Connie and I know you have it in for DAZ ever since *** ****** *** so I know you have it in for DAZ ever since.

Wasn't even gonna comment on this useless thread until this. That was just plain low. Some shit should stay private, yanno? It's called professionalism. So why don't you stow that crap and fight in private rather than OBVIOUSLY try and make another vender look stupid in public.

Man, that really pissed me off, and normally I'm fairly cool with you.

Yep. Clothing type sales determine the content being produced. EG if a vendor makes a skimpy outfit in a week, and a detailed fantasy outfit in a month, but got double the sales from the skimpy outfit, its easy to understand what direction they are going to go next for their next item. This doesn't happen with all vendors, but some go this type of route. Also this is dangerous, because some feel they don't have to add as much detail in order to generate good sales, because the content type will do most of the selling.

I dunno.  The handwriting was pretty much on the wall with V3.

I think the difference might be there were more stores back then.  A lot of my non-typical Poser wear came from the "alternate" stores, many of which are not in business any more.

In any case, it's reason for me to continue to use the Gen3 figures.  Sure, I can convert the clothing.  I have a bunch of WW licenses and am not afraid to use them.  But the clothing usually looks best on the figure it was made for, and there's often no reason not to use, say, David instead of M4.  I've got a lot of nice characters for Gen3, too, and they don't convert as easily.

Well you know, in the past I had no problem with Connie, however she was way out of line with those accusations she threw when I've done nothing to her. However, she needs to separate her feelings from discussion when she posts. That's professionalism. Whatever issues she had with them, I won't be the one she takes it out on.

Another vote for locking this thread, let them go to the Daz forums if they want to continue this.

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

This is disappointing that this thread was going fine until a few it seems with ulterior motives decided to turn it personal.  We have a over 30 page thread in the Freestuff forum that includes all types of members not turning bad at all and this one is disappointing to say the least.

After discussing with the Community Manager, I'm locking this thread and her team will be reviewing for any TOS violations for individuals and contacting those privately.
