While true.. it is a great program as a pure modeller. For me, very intuitive. I'm very interested to see what Modo has to offer but the price tag is a bit steep for me!
It is a fantastic little modeler. :-) Very "clean" and straightforward. Combine that with one or two of Fugazi's tuts, and you're on your way.
I went from Lightwave to Silo, and was totally happy until...like we all do...I started wanting something with more power under the hood. I've been using Modo 701 under a trial 30 day license, and it is flat out amazing. I had a little trouble with the "snap" option, because Modo has so many options, but I got it finally.
I heard, too, that Silo isn't being developed further, but a license is "cheap." 3D modeler cheap, that is. But if you want to go for the gusto, Modo is a fine choice.
I wouldn't get Zbrush to model Poser clothes. Not unless you want to do a lot of remeshing. It's fabulous for morphs and displacement maps -- unbeatable. And the painting tools are eye-poppers, too. But I don't "start" models with it.
So many decisions...and don't all wish we had more money!!! ;-) 'Cause we gotta save some back for Dawn. She's gonna need a character and some hair, anyhow, when she slides into my runtime. And poses...she'll need poses.
I love me some Modo! :-)
