As you can see in this link other people are having the same problem...

I’m not trying to be a jerk, but this is the kind of stuff that really irks me.

There is no reason why we(The consumer) should have to know as much about Computer Programming as the guy that made the sofware. I’m not saying that the guy that made this should have coded a easy to use installer, but there’s no reason why this product couldn’t have been packaged in such a way that we(the consumers) can’t just extract the “Runtime” folders into “.../DAZ 3D/Studio/My Libaray” and it run the way it’s supposed to Because honestly, What good is something thats too complicated to use?

Sorry CryoDragon, but It's looking like we all got hosed..

Medzinatar ( ) posted Thu, 20 June 2013 at 9:09 PM

I have no idea what you people did.

I installed with one click of mouse to my library location and it works fine.

It also works fine in Poser because it picks up shapes that are available to Genesis.

Granted, it does take a liitle more skill than, say checking email or browsing the Facebooks, but I just made bunch of figures, single click on installed dsf file.  (The figures are composited to this picture, but no postwork other wise)

What he baught is differant then what I baught...

He baught the package that you have(Had I seen it I would have baught it). I got the three smaller seperate packages, and they don't have an installer...

I seen that he's having trouble and figured his must install the same way mine does. Guess not.. lol

I assume you are talking about the "Races" packages, which come with textures plus the shapes.

I don't believe any content at Renderosity comes with an installer as such, but they are all packaged the same way so you just point the zip to your content directory and extract.

I only have the Iradian package installed now, but it was installed the same way as other.

I extracted it into ../DAZ 3D/Studio/My Libaray (thats usually all I have to do), but it didnt work. I cant find it anywhere in DAZ...

I'm using D|S 4 here, but I had no problems with installation or finding it as shown:

I have tried to reinstall like 4 times now, and none of them are working..

Midyin ( ) posted Fri, 21 June 2013 at 12:11 PM

Sorry for the double post. Apperently I have to be a Mod to be able to edit my own post after so long(because that makes total sense)...

Anyway! I've tried to extract them differantly and now i have the morphs... Where the textures are is a completely new mystery... -_-'

I don't think I'm going to buy products made by that artist anymore. he/she does good work, but to have something I can't figure out how to install and use is just a waste of money...

animajikgraphics ( ) posted Fri, 21 June 2013 at 1:25 PM

Don't know what's up with your install but I  wouldn't blame the vendor, as obviously others (and myseld included) are able to install and see it okay.

Why not ask the vendor for help?

Is there a folder in the zip that contains the Data and Runtime folders? If so, you need to take everything out of that folder and place it in the My Library folder, allowing it to merge with the folders already there (Mac users need to be careful here, and will probably have to extract to a temp folder and then move the actual folders with content to the matching location in the My Library folder).

I'm a Mac user and that is precisely what I did (The manual, "old-fashioned way!") and I had no issues at all.

Pay close attention to the content folder "path" and you should be fine.  Also in DS, search for "HFS" in the search box (as stated by the vendor.

Hope this helps?

Reply to Medzintar, What version of Poser are you using? I hate DAZ Studio it is kinda crappy and very buggy, Maybe why thats why it is free it is not worth a anything! I use Poser 7 much more stable and has a better track record. And for the others don't blame the vendor I have bought is stuff before and it is very good and excellent to work with. I think this might be a DAZ Studio problem would  perfer this to work exclusively for Poser.

You realize these shapes are for Genesis?

To use them in Poser you will have to have at least Poser 9 SR3.1 to use the DSON importer to bring Genesis into Poser.

The screen shots I used in this thread were from DS 4.6

I have successfully used all the HFS shapes in PP2012 and recently put a picture in the gallery here.

the link is here, but is only picture I have up now anyway

Yes I Know it is for the Genesis mesh, was just curious what version of Poser you use.Looks like I am spending a couple Hundred or more for the new version of Poser (just wont eat for the next 2 weeks) would like to still know how to put it correctly step by step into DAZ Studio, maybe can help others who don't have Poser 9 and above, or Poser at all.

Medzinatar ( ) posted Sat, 22 June 2013 at 3:39 PM

The shapes come in a zip file that shows two folders when opened

  1. Documentation
  2. My Library

You can either extract the zip to the folder above "My Library" or
drag and drop the "My Library" folder to the existing one in the content folder.

If you use something other than "My Library" for your content,
then you will have to drag the folders underneath it to the respective folders.

To the best of my knowledge, these are the standard ways of installing content from Renderosity Marketplace.
I believe the merchants are required to package their products following this form.

I have configured DSON to look in DS for content so all the morphs appear in Genesis
with no additional effort on my part.

For other items, your must use a Poser Companion File supplied by the vendor or make your own

I understand all that I have done that procedure and it still does not work. My system is custom built and it does not run like a store bought all ready made and configured system, so most installs work but every now and then some do not. I may have to get a hold of the vender and see what can be done. For now I wont purchase anything else from the vender (even though I would like the other sets) I will wait until this problem is solved or purchase the new Poser upgrade.

nobodyinparticular ( ) posted Sun, 14 July 2013 at 9:22 AM

If you have the HFS Shapes package shown above, it does not come with textures. Only shapes. Dariofish recently released:"Xenoskins skin textures". That should give you the textures you need.

You should have contacted the vendor in the first place.  I have found most vendors are more than willing to help.  You should not automatically blame the vendor on what is obviously an issue with your computer. As stated above, I have the very same item from this vendor and I was able to install it and use it without any issues at all.

The problem is the "My Library", extract everything INSIDE that folder not the folder itself.  How many times does this have to be explained that "Content", "My Library" and "[Whatever to Hell DAZ is Calling the Library Folder this Time]" ARE NOT REQUIRED FOLDERS.  You can name your library anything you want as long as it is pointed to in Studio's Content Directory Manager.

SickenlySweete ( ) posted Mon, 15 July 2013 at 8:11 PM

this will work, but you will still need to make sure you put it in the studio part of the content directory manager, and not the poser one!!

When I installed HFS Shapes into DS on my system, I simply followedthe same directory structure as what was provided in the .zip archive (I installed manually).  Install and use for me went without a single hitch.  I think most of the issue are due to people not paying attention to where things go.

And I agree, the person who started this thread is not paying attention to directory paths and haphazardly placing files in the wrong place.  Of course DS can't find them!

What I dont like seeing is the blame automatically being placed on the vendor because the user doesn't know what they're doing or how to troubleshoot the problem.

Quote - did you reimport the meda data?

This particular product does not include a Meta-Data file (they are usually not provided outside of Daz) - this product is sold on renderosity.  I did not require it for it to work for me.
