Doc.. I'm using it exclusively now (that's why I've been silent in this thread for quite a while) and have been since about a week after PP2014 came out. I used poser for years so the re-learning it wasn't so hard; and it's been a blast. I'm back to just loving poser instead of having a love-hate relationship with it. I had gotten sucked into the genesis trap with studio and I'd forgotten just how versatile vicky is. No wonder the price on her hasn't dropped much on daz since she was released. As far as rendering goes.. luxrender is luxrender is luxrender. Doesn't seem to me what you set the scene up with, if reality is translating the materials and lux is rendering it, the results SHOULD be the same.
Where I come to a screeching halt sometimes is with the collection of materials that I have. I have nearly every material set made by tabala and parrotdolphin. Some of these use a pretty extensive node setup and reality just doesn't like them at all. A bit of tweaking (sometimes extensive tweaking) is needed to be done on a few other things as well. For example, for Mihrelle's Elena character, if you set a lipstick color and just let 'er rip, the lips will render out grey. I've yet to be able to get her lips to render the correct lipstick color either in studio OR poser.
On the plus side.... I have a pretty big collection of tattoos for vicky (shana's entire inked series as well as some ones I custom-made myself) and these are a breeze to apply with reality's color math ability. I'm a material room novice so all of my own tatts I applied to the figure's original texture and just saved a copy. Don't have to do that any more. Just apply to the right material zone via color math/multiply. Set the color to the full white background that's used on the tatts material and let 'er rip. I did this with Kymber in the Studio and Nude 015. I haven't gotten into it yet, but in reality you can even use the u and v offset to move those tatts around on the body.
I was a poser hater for the entire time I was using studio.. and I understand that I'm being rather fickle.. but I'm loving poser right now. At least until they do something to break it. Fortunately SM isn't as prone to break their products as Daz is.
