Just a real basic test run with the base Dawn figure and texture. Yes, V4 clothes don't readily fit without major mesh smoothing trickery (don't even bother with autofit--it won't recognize her anyway and makes a hash of things). It's taken me about a half hour to get a shirt, undies and a hair piece on her. Nice figure, but its an awful lot of work without upgrading to her own wardrobe, and that's the kicker.
At least she was free to evaluate...
Looks like Dawn's legs got badly sunburnt.
Anyway, I've been looking at all the pre-release previews for several weeks now, and then finally tonight all the official stuff. And I gotta tell ya, fwiw, she's just not doin it for me. I'm a bit, well, unimpressed. Today's official unveiling has done nothing to change my mind. A few renders have made her look somewhat attractive(a few but mostly not), but she has absolutely nothing on V4(or 5 or 6). And I'm still with V4.
The vast majority of all the vendors' custom V4 characters look way more beautiful. At least those that are meant to be beautiful. Of course there are many characters made for the purpose of being some evil, grotesque, monstrous or demonic type creature, but with those unfortunate exceptions, all the rest are much more attractive.
Supposedly Dawn is engineered to have several advantages, but realistically, it will take a while(who knows how long?)to get all the bugs and kinks worked out. Victoria 4 has the advantage of being a very mature product that with the aid of all the fixes by some talented vendors here at Rendo has reached her true potential. What can be accomplished by V4 alone is now amazing! And that is why I'm still working with V4 and have had no motivation or incentive to move to anything else. I can't remember the last time I dloaded anything new from DAZ. And with all the bugs & not ready for primetime status of 4.6, and the infamous DIM, forget it!
