Thanks markschum. Armed with that knowledge, I looked at the vssui.py file again, and spotted that three full stops in the text of one menu item had been auto-"corrected" to a single '...' character. That was the culprit.

Am I correct in imagining that bagginsbill is no longer supporting VSS/Matmatic/Parmatic? I've been away such a long time...
