Subject: Smart prop and hair vanish from G1

manleystanley ( ) posted Thu, 15 August 2013 at 9:00 PM · edited Fri, 29 November 2024 at 12:41 AM

Anyone else having this issue in C8.5b?

Up to now I have always used figure type hair that runs through autofit. Well I was working on a figure using M3's pirate outfit, and Kosaburo's hair; I was using the M3 morph at about 35% so figured I could get the hair to fit. I also used the smart prop belt buckle and sword. When I posed G1 they all vanished from the scene. They are listed in the seguencer, but are no place to be found in the scene; I tried send to origen but nothing showed.

On another G1, I was using the sword and head scarf, they also vanished on posing the figue.

Is anyone else experiancing this?

I had the same issue with Dawn's hair and figured it was a Dawn issue, I was wrong.

so they are not rendering I take it?

I use 8.1 and with somethings they don't show in the assembly room but render okay, depends on what I have set my preview parameters to

Not even getting to the render room, they vanish from the assembly room. I've checked this out and I can not use "hair" or smart props with G1, G2F or Dawn. As soon as I pose them the hair or smart prop vanishes from the scene. I've tried every thing I can think of and they are just no place to be found in the scene.

This just limits my use of the next gen figures even more. As good as they are the issues I have with them prevents me from using them half the time. So now I have to go back and redo 3 characters to M4.

I'm about to give up on them all together, just more issues with them then they're worth. Funny thing is it seems no one has seen this issue in 2 years. I can only assume no one has tried regular hair or smart props on them.

might fix the problem?

Bet it wont?

But I do see "Improved Fit to Functionality" hopefully that is fixed autofit.

Some of it needs a bit of clearification.

Thing is, I don't recall reading about anyone mentioning the hair and smart prop issue. DAZ certainly can't fix an issues they aren't aware. And that isn't something I'd put on DAZ.

What bites a bit is I wont have the $ for it till the first week of next month when I get my divedend check.

What would really be nice is starting a campain to get all the carraraests over to carraracafe where we don't have to worry about big bro......DAZ editing everything. I mean really, you can't get anything acomplished with out free, frank, open discussions. Not something you can do on the DAZ forum.

A post of mine disappeared once. Totally innocuous to most users, the comments just did not fit with what marketing wanted to project. So... poof.

I hate corporate marketing/legal department spin doctors on principle. Because they have none.

On the disappearing props: I have this happen with some packaged poses: when a prop figure is conformed to another figure and the pre-packaged pose places the prop figure to a fixed distance from the figure. Sending to origin does not work until the prop is released from the figure.

Perhaps that is the issue here?

manleystanley ( ) posted Wed, 21 August 2013 at 7:39 AM

It's with any pose, even the stock poses for G1. I'd check this a bit more theroly, but quick is no place in this comps vocabulary.

I know that Dawn and G2F do the same thing. So this seems to be a common issue with triax figures, not at all sure why no one else has seen it.
