Hi, Windows 7, 64 bit.

I lost everything to a computer crash, so I re-installed Pro 2012 and update, but now every time I place cursor over preview screen, everything goes black. Does anyone have an idea what is going on? Thanks!

Try this:-

Move your cursor into the work area.

Press your Right mouse button.

Now does it say you are using OpenGl or SreeD?

Whichever one it says, click on the other one and then see if this solves your problem.

All the best.

which did you have running ?  an opengl fault may mean you need to change your video card driver.

Mark, opengl was running and the solution was to switch to sreeD. Are you suggesting I a new driver for video card? Thanks
