Hey everyone , this may sound a daft question really

Ok Poser has been running like hell on my pc for sometime , so yesterday night i took it to my friend who is even better than I am when it comes to pc's he's got a ton of the Microsoft MCSA server/workstation qualifications and stuff (he's really clever) and he now works for the company i used to work for as a IT techincan.

He brought my pc back to me this morning and said nothing just said turn it on and run it and I am shocked not only is it faster than its ever been before poser is running like i have always wanted it to fast and smooth and Luxrender is working much better than it was before.

Now he say's he just cleaned it up a bit and changed some settings for me and would love to know what sort of setting's he would have likely changed.

he said he did want anything for what he did but i gave him some money for it and he said that i can reinstall windows if i need to and it will be fine.

This is going to sound like I'm a jerk but I'm being honest here -  Why didn't you just ask your friend?

It's impossible to know what he changed because we didn't have access before your PC got "fixed".

As Teyon says, we can only guess and there are thousands of possible causes. Most common reason I come across for poor performance is Anti-virus software, either because its scanning and hogging all the disk IO or its decompressing and hogging all the CPU.

I have figured it out I think after reading a bit on the net , and looking at the camera shots I took of the bios screens for help when I was having issues with my ssd for ocZ and I think he's converted my hdd's from ide to ahci which looked like it reset to ide when the bios crashed a month or so ago and I see that it looks like virtualization has been reactivated

He likely turned off every single Windows service he safely could (as do I) ;). Indexing and Aero for instance takes a lot of system resources.
