note that's not only the texture which make a sword look real, it's the pose of the figure using it which contributes also.
Just do a simple lenght x width x depth estimate for it, and 10grams per cubic centimeter. Usually, a mens-high sword of some serious width and thickness has half the weight of the warrior him/herself, and just swaying around with it makes it look like a plastic toy even if the materials are good.
