I have to agree that the ZenDesk seems to be your best chance getting the initial problem solved. DSON is still in development, so DAZ still seems to care about Poser users.
At least a little. :-)
I'm not an advanced Studio user and I don't even have it installed right now. Just following the development of Genesis as I'm interrested in rigging improvements.
From what I've read, once you click on one of the Poser Companion File icons in your Genesis library, a script will tell DSON to create a "virtual" cr2 that is saved in a temporary folder under a random name.
The info what UV-set to use is also stored alongside this temporary cr2, because the UV-set can be swapped at will if you load another .duf material file.
(Doesn't work with "conventional" Poser material or MAT-pose files. Only a material .duf file that gets loaded via it's Poser Companion Files can actively switch UV sets)
As I said, if you save that "virtual", DSON-loaded Genesis cr2 in Poser, the UV-set info "gets lost", so Genesis reverts back to it's default UV set.
Once you "poke" it by loading another (.duf) material set, a fresh UV-set gets loaded, so textures and UV sets will match again.
At least that's what I think is happening, but as I said, I'm far from being a Studio expert.
Yes, it's all quite complicated, but Studio and Poser tech is VERY different now, and it's actually a small miracle that Genesis works as well in Poser as it does now.
And yes, a "native" Poser figure would be of course better, but none of the currently available figures are technically that advanced as Genesis is.
I'm not using Genesis much, as I actually "do" have "better" figures, but for the average user who has to/wants to simply use figures out of the box, I think Genesis is a viable alternative, especially now that the joints behave like they should.
