The thought that Poser ceasing to exist somehow stops my use of it stone dead bemuses me.  If Honda was suddenly to go bust would it stop me driving my car, no, well not in the short or medium term at least.

So if (and I stress IF) there were no more figures and if Poser was to end development at 2014 I would be sad but I would still keep using Poser 2014.  With many people still using Poser 6 history tends to suggest I would have many years of enjoyment out of Poser. 

I also wonder what the majority of users really want from their figures.  I suspect that, for large group of people, V4WM and Dawn, along with others already provide what they want from their figures.  For me the biggest improvement in the last few years was the inclusion of Sub Surface Scattering in Poser and that can be used with any figure with a little playing in Poser. 

The suggestion that V4 is getting old also causes me to smile but that may have more to do with the fact I am retired than the fact she is a digital mesh and as such does not age.  Sure she can get left behind but I have seen little to suggest she has been left behind so far. 

Finally, looking at the galleries here and other sites I often wonder whether new developments in Poser and DS would have more impact on the average render than making better use of the tools that already exist would.  I certainly don't push Poser to it's limits so why would I want more features?   Will this stop me buying the next version of Poser or the one after that, only if I have given up on Life or 3D by then.  

 

 

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.
