There are multiple ways to make parts invisible.  The quickest way is through the Hierarchy Editor found through the Windows part of the taskbar above or the Parameter/Properties Panel.  This is illustrated above.  Clicking on the eye in the Hierarchy Editor controls invisibility. The 3rd method, which is more involved, is create a black & white transparency mask to hide the unwanted parts.
