Subject: Victoria 5 native to Poser

dogor ( ) posted Wed, 01 January 2014 at 2:18 AM · edited Fri, 29 November 2024 at 1:40 PM

Does anyone know if you can get Victoria 5 in a file native to Poser without going throught Daz Studio and the importer?

If not, oh well, I don't need a song and dance. I have no use for the M5 and V5 figures or their accesories unless they can be used directly in my native Poser runtimes.

If yo have poser pro 2014 you can poser skin the figure and save it as a Cr2 but with m5 I have had some texture problems.  V5 may work fine.  you can use the subd in the properties for the body part of the parameters section i think to change the subd. let me know if this works for you.

The DSON Importer does allow you to load content with companion files as if it was native - that's its whole point. It's only if there are no companion files that you need DS (or Dimension 3D's script).

WandW ( ) posted Wed, 01 January 2014 at 9:40 AM

It's simple to export from Studio; if you uninstall the DAZ Content Management Service, Studio will not have any impact on your machine when it's not running.

JoePublic outlines a method to convert it within Poser using the DSON importer.

http://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php?thread_id=2874212

The problem with using it as a native Poser Figure is that you can't add 3rd party morphs to it, nor switch UVs; if you want to add morphs you need to rexport or reconvert it after installing the morphs into the Studio formatted figure.....

So the basic answer is "No" if you want it to be as straightforward as using V4

It's seamless to use if the DSON importer is intalled into Poser.  The only difference in use is that the Transfer Active Morphs script needs to be run when adding conforming clothing, but when you use V4 you need to magnetize conforming clothing, so the answer is essentially 'yes' if the importer is installed.  However, I don't believe you can render over the network via Queue Manager if the scene contains DSON imported fugures...

The answer is no and I'm really wondering why this question is asked so often.

Quote - but when you use V4 you need to magnetize conforming clothing

Well that is new for me, I've used V4 a good number of times, but I've never magnetized any clothing at all. I must have been doing something wrong :tongue2:

You're not the OP; I already answered their question, and was answering yours. With the importer it is...

That's what the magnetize poses are under DAZ's Victoria 4 are for; V4's magnets don't influence the clothing automatically on Poser like they do in Studio, so if you had to deal with pokethrough, yes, you were doing something wrong... 😉

I have to agree with WandW on the magnet question although in many conforming clothes, the pokethrough issue isn't as prominent or problematic.  But the purpose of those magnets is to address exact fit without pokethrough.  Not necessarily wrong if magnets are not used, but they are conveniently there to resolve additional problems.

estherau ( ) posted Wed, 01 January 2014 at 4:59 PM

Well we've wandered a little off topic but since we have I'll mention that semidieu's advanced library manager script automatically magnitizes the clothes to V4 if that option is put into it's preferences, and can also automatically check the boxes for followmorph and scaling in poser.

I never did get Dson or Daz Studio to work properly. Problem I think revolved around Windows 7 file security blocking files. I waded through a pile of error codes to come to that conclusion.

I thought maybe there might be a less functional version of the V5 and M5 available with more Poser native morphs, kind of like V4.2.

If something ever becomes available and I could aviod Daz Studio and Dson, I might be willing to expand my Daz charcter collection again, key word might, but I can't see jumping through a thousand hoops just so I can use their stuff. I know it's been easier for others to get their programs to work and I'm glad for them, really I am, however, it does me no good whatsoever.

Thanks for the info.

I have both Poser and Studio installed on my D: drive, and as a result I have no UAC issues, so you might try installing Studio into C:DAZ or somesuch and see if it works.

Poser works fine in the same environment. I can save scene files virtually anywhere and has no problem interacting with them on the same drive.

With Daz Studio I not only have to deal with a different file system, but when I save scene files it can't read them when I try to open them later. I always get that error (can't find such and such file)   it's there!

The installation of DSON did little more than cause another irritating error message everytime I started Poser (both 9 and 10). Never resolved it.

I didn't buy Poser 10 to learn how to make Daz Studio work or to arrange my files in such a way as to make it possible. It's just pathetic and frustrating to me.

I expect Daz's creators to write programs that just work like they're supposed to with the OS, well, like Poser does. Nuff said.

Daz is trying to sell hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of content and they better make it easier for me to use or I refuse to buy it. That simple!

Why would I even buy content for a software program that doesn't work properly in my OS environment?

For the kind of money they want for their stuff, I don't think that's asking too much, do you?

WandW,

You said you have both Poser and Daz on your D: Drive. Are you talking about a second hard disk or a removable drive?

I have two user partitions on my hard drive; 150GB C:  for Windows and the rest as D: for data. That way I can reinstall or upgrade Windows if necessary wihout a lot of hassle.  Back in Windows 2000 days I only needed 10GB for Windows; inflation...  :glare:

I moved everything over to a removable drive and things seem to work alright.

It was my back-up drive and I never thought about moving everything to it because it seems like to me years ago Poser 5 wouldn't work that way.

It never crossed my mind until you said something, thank you.

I even have Daz Studio working.
