Subject: OBJ viewers?

I use Kawecki's Prop Viewer (as linked by willyb53) all the time for viewing OBJ, 3DS and prop files with internal geometry. It's fast and has other useful features too.

However if it can't understand your file, you get the Utah Teapot instead. :) Two main reasons for this are:

  1. Your OBJ was 'squished' for use as a morph target, i.e. it has no facet information; no polygons. Your only option in this case is to use a viewer or modeller that will display vertex-only information.

  2. (Not relevant to you, since you're viewing OBJs) You gave it a prop file which calls an external geometry file. In that case you need to find where the geometry is and view that instead.
