Subject: Change for change sake

I'm British but on this rare occassion I will use an Americanism: if it ani't broke don't fix it.

What was wrong with Rendo'?

Did it really need the changes to the forum and messaging service?

Who is Rendo' keeping up with - thae Dazes- Unlikely.

If Rendo wants people like me it has to be a stable platform that restisits whim and fashion

What is the average age of rendo users?

What is the age of Rendo contributors?

I do not want double space in the forum and I want the PM system as it was.

Best wishes

Josie

There is a secret scroll bar at the right side of the document window in the PM composition page that I happened across by chance that makes it somewhat usable.

However, I agree that there doesn't seem to be a good reason for many of the changes lately...

I'm not a part of the IT end of things (Thank God) but from the buzz we hear, I believe all of the changes are an attempt to make the site more compatable with mobile devices.

It's failing.  Trust me on that.

now I'm off a mobile device - my Galaxy S4, one of the most powerful phones atm - I can actually SEE the site properly, all functions are now availible, the Forums work properly, the chat works.

if the changes are to make it "mobile friendly" then I suggest you fire your IT staff and get someone who actually knows what they are doing.

but since this is more important that fixing the double spacing bug in this editor, clearing out trolls...... who cares?

in my experience, most changes are motivated by the wish to roll back the previous one...

while changing something that you know the disadvantages of, into something you don't know the disadvantages of yet, is called PROGRESS.

I think we agree that Rendo has made a lot of progress lately :-), and that we are awaiting the next step forward.

Usually I'm wrong. But to be effective and efficient, I don't need to be correct or accurate.

visit www.aRtBeeWeb.nl (works) or Missing Manuals (tutorials & reviews) - both need an update though

*try it on a mobile deivce and then see if it's "progress". if the desire was to improve things, then the target was sorely missed. *

Not quite.

In firefox anyway, when viewing a forum thread which spans multiple pages, the design of the page number buttons is such that it is not possible to see which page you are currently viewing.

The old version of this site had the current page number darker so it stood out from the others and not a clickable link. This is how it works in the gallery, so the site designer knows how to do it right, just doesn't think it's necessary to do it here.

In the forum, not only does the current page number 'button' look identical to those on either side of it, but it is also a clickable link. In other words it is possible to go to page 4 while viewing page 4. And often there's no 'next page' button, so to get to the next page you just have to click on page numbers until you get to one that you haven't seen before, and that's probably the next page.

I also find the lack of any indication as to which page you're on highly inconvenient.
