yeh this is true....one way to convert your Bitmap images into Vector is by using Macromedia freehand and tracing each frame of your animation once youve exported it as a gif. Its a lenghty process though so be warned. Having said that its very easy to do if you can invest the time. All you do is open up freehand, draw a selection round your bitmap image and it converts it into Vector shapes, you then just place your cursor onto the bitmap image and press the delte key and you and up with only the Vector version. another thing to consider is the loss of image clarity when your using solid vector shapes rather than Run Length Encoding. In other words where your original bitmap might fade from black to white very gradually, a vector graphic of that bitmap would be made up of solid shapes fading from black to white.
