It is pretty idiot proof. Just put the stuff you want on the second screen, onto the second screen. Panes, pane groups, etc. all work that way. If that is where they are when you close DS, then that is where they will be next time you open DS.  Any popup windows you want on the other screen, just move them while they are up. From then on, that is the screen they will show up on.
