Subject: The Poser/Daz kids (Luke & Laura) - textures?

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Tue, 04 March 2014 at 12:34 PM · edited Sun, 01 December 2024 at 4:42 AM

I've hardly ever used the Millennium kids, but I've got a commission now where they're needed. And uhm.. the textures that comes with them are rubbish. So.. IS there any proper textures out there for the kids?

Please don't tell me to go Genesis. I won't L I need something that works in Poser without hassle and without me having to buy a set of new characters. Textures are ok, but.. well... Anyone?

Nothing much has been done with the MilTeens in years, so much of the things that are left will be quite dated. A lot of the stuff has been pulled from the various stores, including at Rendo. I think the body and head morphs are no longer available for the MilTeens as well. That's why I did make a set of custom teens for sale... and they have done quite well for me and rigged them to work in Poser as well.

I wish you luck, but I'm thinking that ship has sailed on finding content you need.

luke and laura have the same uvs as V3.

any skin for the mil3 people should work on them.

max-for-matt over at Daz works on Millenium kids preschool. An excellent texture and morph set. (i had it use it some years ago for comission work including falmilly with children images)

It's poser files

Thanks! I forgot that they take V3 textures. I might be able to get by with the Vittorio for V3 for the boy then :)

I have Dal's Bunch, but they must be for other characters because nothing whatsoever happens when I click the MAT files... (and there's no teen girl in that anyway)

IS there newer kids, save for the Genesis ones? Again, I never normally use kids, so I'm so out of the loop here L

Aside from Matt and Mattie, and the Kids 4, the only other ones I know of are Will and Penny and Ben and Kate.

If you want to, you could avail yourself of Texture Converter 2 and the plug ins for Laura (Luke uses the same). Gives you access to every V4 texture for Laura, and every M4 texture for Luke. Skins are just the maps, but if you run EZSkin afterwards you can get nice SSS. I'd recommend getting any morph packs you can find as well, as they are kind odd looking 'out of the box'. I've posted this pic before, but this is a morphed Laura using a V4 skin and EZSkin.

That's another feature i want from Poser. The ability to use any texture on any figure.

That's granted if TG is running P9/PP2012 or P10/PP2014.  Otherwise EZSkin is useless.

piersyf ( ) posted Tue, 04 March 2014 at 3:51 PM

True enough, but TC2 is independent of Poser versions, and if TG doesn't have P9 to PP2014 the textures will still be of the same quality as V4/M4. TC2 is the main tool I'm recommending here, EZSkin is a bonus.

willyb53 ( ) posted Tue, 04 March 2014 at 3:59 PM

Pretty sure he has P9+.  He did morph set for dawn.  And ezskin adds procedural bump and specular to TC2 textures

I second that Max is an excellent texture; I missed it enough to convert it for use with K4. The eyes have horrible baked in specular though, so I recommend using a different character's eyes.

Yes, K4. A lot of people don't like him 'cause he's not out-of-the-box as cute as Matt, but personally if you know what you're doing I find K4 more flexible (plus K4 has more high quality textures plus there are remaps out there to take M4/V4 textures and even morphs). Even more useful is Col's M4-K4 Mixer which basically turns M4 into K4. Very useful for young teens and older kids.

I have a character for Laura by Fabiana - called Mel. Very nice.

I just finished styling this dynamic hair for Laura - putting it into freestuff once I made a few material sets. The texture and face morph is Mel by Fabiana. I think she is lovely.
