Subject: Poser figure outline colour change

phil_lawson ( ) posted Sat, 15 March 2014 at 9:27 AM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 6:11 AM

HOORAY! Just got upgraded from Poser 9 to Poser 10. I've set up my workspace and it all looks good. Thing is I'm a bit colour blind and the red outline around the selected figure part is blinding me. All I can see is the red lines. In P9 I was told how to alter the colour from red to white ( I think it was a setting in the prefs file that was altered from 1 to 0 but I can't remember). Can anyone help and tell me which setting I altered?

I tried searching my old posts but they eem to have disappeared!

Doesn't seem to change. Oh well, support call to SM I suppose. Thanks anyway.

Close Poser.

Go to the Poser.ini file and open "Poser.ini" in a txt editor.

Change HILITE_BODY_PART 1  to HILITE_BODY_PART 0

save back as Poser.ini

Then restart Poser.

First ! ! !  make a back-up of the Poser.ini file just to be on the safe side.
(Duplicate it to "Poserorg.ini" or something, so you can set it back if all else fails)

Typical, its there on a PC but no Poser.ini on a Mac. I've found the Poser 9 Poser Prefs in the Librays folder thats normally hidden. That's where the Poser 9 file is tucked away but its not like that for 10. Strange.

My Poser 10 also asks for the name and code every time I launch it. Even stranger!!

Being a PC guy, so sorry but I have no MAC knowledge.

But? Did you do a default install??

PC or MAC, Poser makes a hidden directory, and that is where your Poser10 ini file should be.
Exactly as Poser 9 did.

As for Poser asking its serial number every time? That is what brings my question; Did you do a default install?

Yep, default everything. I don't fiddle with things if I don't have to, I'm lazy like that. I'm not a 'fan boy' of different kinds of computer but I went to a Mac purely because the Mrs bought one 'cos it looks good' then couldn't use it so she swaped me for my PC (I didn't get much choice in the matter actually. :-)).

I've got a couple of support calls into Smith Micro so I'll annoy them until its sorted.. Or maybe its time to go back to a PC...

Poser 1?? didn't know that existed. What was it? Pen & paper? Blimey! anyway, thanks for the help so far!

Ha-ha-ha-, Poser 1, a zillion years ago on a 1.44 disk. LOL.
Yes, that was a LONG time ago.

Got it free with a magazine, and ordened Poser2 the next day.

Hope SM will sort this out for you.

YAYY! good for Smith Micro support. They couldn't (wouldn't) sort the red outline issue for me as its classed as a user hack but they did sort out the problem with the code needing to be entered each time I ran Poser up. Turned out that I didn't have rights to create the reg file. The folder was read only. Bloomin' MAC operating system.. Anyway, I opened up the security and suddenly I've also got a prefs file under the Poser 10 folder. So, no more red outline and no more entering the code.

Wonder how much a PC would cost.. HMM..

GOOD for you.
All ends well then.

Ha-ha-ha-ha-, Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 also limit User Acces Rights.

We are all fighting the OS, on Windows or on MAC.
