Earlier in this thread I said that you're not supposed to use transparency and refraction together on the same pixel. And now, here I am showing you exactly that.
There's a difference, though, in the approach. Here, I'm using transparency only because Poser doesn't implement transmission with refraction correctly, and if I need to deal with shadows of glass, then this is a way to do it. Further, I didn't just guess and guess and guess about nodes to assemble and what values to use. It was derived from requirements to final shader with no guessing along the way. It's OK to do crazy things if the math says that's how you do it. It's not OK to waste your time doing crazy things you think might work but don't.
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
