As I said, not buying the Gen4 stuff only hurts the Poser content providers, not DAZ. Genesis is what is driving sales and the PAs including myself have been seeing increased sales, even when not providing the Poser support. So what you're suggesting wouldn't impact them at all.

At this point I don't think it matters, as I said. The shift has happened, believe it or not. But Poser should really work on their figure platform regardless as their vendors would like to work on new tech too that will energize their market.  

And DAZ did create DSON on its own... it's the native file format of the application that describes content, scenes and for portability; it's not a plugin if you didin't know.
