Whoa whoa. I didn't even read the rest. This is completely wrong. Gamma correction has to do with color spaces of images shown on computer monitors, recorded in cameras, printed on printers, versus the linear color space used in the rendering equation. It has nothing whatsoever to do with renderer shortcomings.

The data you put on a screen is designed to be represented using a number system called sRGB. You have completely misunderstood what gamma correction is, or why Poser (and other renderers) apply unapply it on the way in, and then apply it on the way out.


Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
