I also like bending existing objects to fit a curve. In 2009 I showed the construction of a hinge, starting with a flat piece. I called that function "rollExtrusion".

 

 

I got stumped on the next function needed, which would be to cut beveled round holes for screws in the plates. I'm revisiting that now.
