What you read is really a myth.  V4 and her morph packs can be placed into an external runtime, but they must be together in the same runtime.  That is the requirement.  I have my original V4 and Morph ++ pack in my Poser 7 runtime and that folder is linked to my PoserPro, PP2010, PP2012, and PP2014.  She still works like a charm.
