32 bit regularly craps out on me. Right now I'm doing a render that's using 4.8 GB just for the render, and another 1.9 for Poser itself.

The size of the scene can be the culprit -- I think I have a million polygons or more in this one.

But it can be something like using IDL with a lot of transmaps (plants, trees, hair, clothing) and too many light sources. If you're using P9 or later, you can turn off "light emitter" in the properties tab for props that use transmaps, and that will speed up your render, if nothing else.

If you're using 32 bit, first thing I'd make sure of is that in editrender, that I had Separate Process checked.

Start a render and fire up Task Manager. See how much memory Poser and Firefly renderer are using vs everything else you're running.

It's a start, anyway.
