I'm a designer at heart and I know exactly what makes the popular programs popular:
The best program out there is the one that has all of these. So far, none of them do. Poser has a usable design and works with figures, but it has a price. DAZ Studio works with figures, doesn't have a price, but the design isn't as good as Poser. Blender has no price, and the ease of use the others have, will come sooner or later to Blender.
There can only be one winner, eventually, so even though I love Poser and wish I had Vue, I'm perfectly happy to learn the do-it-all giant that is Blender, because it's future is assured, and my ability to have it at my disposal is always guaranteed. I think that learning it is the best thing I can do, and ignoring it is the worst thing I can do.
