I was exactly the same with the early versions of Blender, but since they updated the interface, it's no harder to take in than Cinema4D or LightWave3D.  I think the problem is that when people see something cool done in Blender, they try to follow a tutorial for it and get confused.  They don't realise that the confusion probably comes from them not learning the Basics of the Blender interface first.

It's like the saying goes, "Don't try to run before you can walk".
