Careful, that ambient chip might be very dark red thus appearing black.  I have seen too many of those.  

The settings posted are not your typical; if you are basing these settings on older content, I would say they are completely incorrect with the current Poser versions.  As the others pointed out, your results are not consistant with IDL and lighting workflow and should be modified accordingly.  There are too cheats still floating around which make or break renders, and nowadays, the simpler the setup, the better off you will be.
