Me too. I think that would be an excellent idea.

That would be great, and could no doubt be used to aid in converting other types of similar objects.

Do you mean converting .3ds models? There's no way to convert .max from the native 3dsmax format, to something useful in Poser, unless you own 3dsmax, or have the demo downloaded. Most of the best models are in .max format I would think, as the .3ds format is very limited (64k poly count limitation I believe), and converts quads to tris.
Tools : 3dsmax 2015, Daz Studio 4.6, PoserPro 2012, Blender
v2.74
System: Pentium QuadCore i7, under Win 8, GeForce GTX 780 / 2GB
GPU.

absolutely the car and prop saving process are pretty much the same.

As a Poser user the hair in my neck starts to curl.... Usually not a good sign.
Poser runs best on quads.
Most applications work best with quads, unless you're in a sculpting app. The .3ds file format tends to convert quads to tris, but I think it can support quads as well. It's an old file format, and very limited, so the models saved to .3ds aren't always the most complex or well done. 3dsmax, however, saves out to many different file formats, like .3ds, .OBJ, and much more, but the native file format for the software is .MAX, which contains all the scene information as well as model information (lights, cameras, materials, etc),. However, Autodesk made the file format proprietary to 3dsmax, so no other applications can open a Max file except for 3dsmax itself.

actually for non organics / non morphing, Poser does just fine on Tri's (not long thin ones). for that kind of model, quads can actually cause more problems in poly count. so easier to just use Tri's. poser works just fine. now, for organics other than cloth, Quads. for cloth, Tris are a good step towards good flow (the mesh gets converted anyway you'll notice)
Yes quads are better but tri' are still ok in some cases and obj is the slightly better format and the one my guide focuses on which is upto 19 pages now.

Own 3ds max 14 and work in .obj

Well first off its nice to be posting in the forums after being off them for a while now while i have been working on other things.
Anyway i have now got a bit of free time and i have restarted some of my poser projects that got posponed (Make's a change) one of partly started projects was a guide on converting car models from 3ds max and how to make them work in poser and i was wondering is this something the community would like / benefit from this free guide as its kinda pointless for me to do it if no-one feels they need it.
let me know all.
cheers
Tim
