Subject: Looking for hair

I'm trying to do a render for the main character from my next book. But there's a problem: I can't find hair to match his. He comes from a culture where men shave the sides of their head when they reach adulthood and trim the top short. So what I'm looking for is hair with really close-cropped sides and short but curly top. And that doesn't look like he spends a lot of time taking care of his hair. If I could just find something for the top part I could use SAV Alpha hair for the sides.

(I meant to include pictures, but after searching extensively it seems every guy who wears this cut has his hair too long on top and/or uses excessive hair gel/hairspray. I'm going for primitive warrior not rock star here.)

try a hair that you like the look of on top and decrease the x scale until the hair starts to disappear from the sides.  Look at all the neftis hairs.

Hmm, not sure why that didn't occur to me. Especially since I had been thinking AprilYSH's Ivandro Hair looked more or less perfect on top...Thanks for the suggestion, I'll see how that looks...

Nope, that leaves a terrible seam where the hair intersects the hide. Tried removing the sides with the group editor too; the results were only a little better. :(

okay try the morphing brush to pull the x in a bit.  however I found that sometiems when you  move the head it doesn't look so good. but give it a try.
