I would not install the application to the Solid State drive myself.  The program is quick to load from a sata.  Some things require going into the preset directory (like the leaf data for Howies stuff) within carrara and no reason to fill up your fast drive with that.  I have a seperate runtime that I keep other things in that are carrara related such as shaders, carrara obj/models, backgrouns etc.

I also have a nice link that walks through the changes to poser shaders when they are loaded in Carrara.  There is a nice little utility that does this for you called Shader Doctor but its fairly straight forward.
