Over my 10 years as a 3D comic artist, I've always worked alone, mostly because it was simpler to work that way, and because there wasn't a clear way to organize a team where everyone would contribute ideas. With the kickstarter platform (which someone here was very kind to explain what it is) you have an easier and practical way of doing this: by pledging your level of contribution. If you don't wanna be too involved, but still wanna be part of the project, you can just pledge a small amount. If you wanna be really involved in the project, you can pledge more.
This algo solves a huge issue than if you did this "for free": contributors will have invested some of their money into this project, so it's in their interest to see it progress and keep moving. When you get a team together and everyone is in the "honor system", and there's no type of finance involved, it's too easy for people to lose interest or simply relegate it for something more "valuable". But, if you put $50 to have a character created for the comic, and you'll be able to direct what that character does in the comic, your level of involvement already increases dramatically, if for nothing else, because you don't wanna see your investment go to waste.
So, if the Kickstarter link to my project is eventually allowed here, you'll be able to understand better what I mean. Thanks again for your replies so far!
