Okay, we're just struggling with you...

Actually, I've observed Poser to have rendering issues when two surfaces coincide exactly. Therefor: is the skullcap over, coinciding or slightly under the skull/skin? I usually do the latter you know, just shrink it 1mm and it becomes invisible whatever the settings, as the head itself is all over it...

Then: do you use (Custom_)Scatter for the head material?

I also assume for the moment that Shadow Bias settings do matter, as they calculate shadows somewhat away from the surface and then project the result upon that surface. Values are in user units, as set in prefs. Perhaps worthwhile to experiment with.
