Your on a Poser forum so people here will favor Poser
& some will give personal opinions about other app's
That they don't even have or know anything about.
So take it all with a grain of sault.

there's main app's all these do the same thing just like a ford or chevy.
1 Max .most used ,can do anything ,has all the plugs.
2 Maya .alot like max
3 C4D .good modeler mapper ,
4 Lightwave it's a good bet any fx ya see on syfy channel was made with LW
4a Modo LW divided now there's LW & Modo
5 Blender best free hobbyist app.

Try the demos.ask on there forums if it can do what ya want and ask for exsample.
Not saying wich app ya should get but I would start at the top of the list with the Max demo.

All need a wacom table at lest a intuos Pro medium or larger or a Cintiq
Sculpters for
Vector maps for main apps.
normal maps for games.
displacement maps for DAZ Poser

ya can paint on the mesh and a lot of other stuff also.

DAZ ,Poser 99.9% for hobbyist to have fun.
Poser has game Poser also.
DAZ Sells game license for there meshes and some other venders do also.

You can use DAZ Poser meshes in main app's also.for videos or comics
