Subject: Creating a Low poly V4/M4, anyone know how?

jamminwolf ( ) posted Sat, 13 September 2014 at 12:01 PM · edited Sun, 01 December 2024 at 5:28 PM

One of the things I'd like to create for an outside atmosphere is a crowd, and I'm thinking of buying this new crowd generator http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/f68-poser-crowd-generator/106518/

But, the first promo image suggests that you're to create a "low poly" figure in the library first... I don't have nor want the "Game Day" Poser, so I'm just using Poser9 (SR3.2), anyone know how to create a low poly V4/M4 with hair/clothes/skin/morphs?

Have a look in your V4 geometries folder to see if you have a 'blMilWom_v4b_LOD' folder. If you do then inside are LOD lower res versions of the V4 obj, 17k, 4k and 1k poly versions. Copy those into the main V4 geometries folder. If you haven't, just redownload your V4 from DAZ.

Then make a copy of your V4 .cr2 file, name it for example V4_17k.cr2 and open it in a text editor. Do a find and replace of blMilWom_v4b.obj for V4_LOD_17K.obj, it should find and replace it in 2 places. Save the .cr2 and you should now have a working 17k poly V4. You can do the same for the other lores versions too. It wont have any morphs but it does take the V4 textures. Michael 4 also has these LOD versions so you can make lores versions of M4 the same way.

The pic shows the LOD versions of M4, and the 17k version of V4.

Good news - this is very easy to do.

Bad news - it does take more than 4 clicks - a lot more

Good news - all you have to do is click.

Bad news - it is a whole lot easier (and faster) to do this in 2014 - and moreso in GameDev.

Go to RDNA - pick up a copy of Advanced Figure Randomizer and INJ builder.  RTM.  That is important, so let me repeat it - RTM - it isn't very long.

Make your V4 character - use all the morphs you want.  (My base V4 with all the morphs is 295Mb).

Open your python scripts

Select Wardrobe Wizard.  (There are an amazing amount of useful commands hiding in this - it's a pity more people don't look into it - it's free.)

Select Utilities

Select Morphs

Select Dials to Single Morph

Wait 1-2 minutes while WW is making a FBM.

After the FBM is done, go back to your scripts menu and select Shaderworks.

Fire up Advanced Figure Randomizer - Select 05 INJ Cleaner

Choose 1st item - Remove all unused morphs

Voila!  295 Mg V4 (in my case) reduced to 13 Mg.

Rinse and repeat for every figure.

To add clothing:

Pick up a copy of Morphing Clothes.  RTM - this is important, so let me repeat it - RTM.

Use Morphing Clothes to inject your V4 FBM into the clothing.

Conform clothing to V4.

Fire up Advanced Figure Randomizer - Select 05 INJ Cleaner

Choose 1st item - Remove all unused morphs

Repeat with each item of clothing.

A number of these steps are not needed with Poser 2014. And it gets even better with GameDev.

There isn't a need to buy Morphing Clothes anymore - the Copy Morphs From command saves you that $20.

The FBX import/export (GameDev) allows you to shrink all of the textures down to 1 texture. - Very helpful for reducing the size of a figure.  As does reduce/hide polygons.

The added features are well worth the money.

Thank you for this.  While I do have the Game Dev version of 2014, it's always good to have other options.

Thanks a lot, guys... where do I get Wardrobe Wizard?  Got Advanced Figure Randomizer and INJ builder wish listed (can't afford it now).

Wardrobe Wizard is already built into Poser.   Look under Python.

Aha, thanks hborre!

The thing is, because a lot of people never buy additional figure support for WW, they never click on it and see all of the useful functions that are hiding under the WW button.

Of course, people could RTM, but what are the odds of that?

jamminwolf ( ) posted Sat, 13 September 2014 at 11:26 PM

BTW what does "RTM" mean?

That's excessively complicated.

  1. Dial your morphs.

  2. Export the morphed figure as an obj (making sure rotations and such are zeroed).

  3. Replace your morph-loaded V4 with a blank one.

  4. Load the obj as a Full Body Morph into the blank figure.

  5. You are done.

jamminwolf ( ) posted Sun, 14 September 2014 at 1:43 AM

Keith, when you say "Replace your morph-loaded V4 with a blank one", do you mean V4 without Morph++, S4, etc.. injected, or V4 that has no channels to inject extras (Morph++, S4, etc...) into?

And how do you load the obj as a full body morph?  Looking in the import options, I don't see that.

The use of TLAs is getting a bit OTT, IMO

Jamminwolf, I think RTM is a polite way to say RTFM

Load a new V4. You'll note this one has no morphs loaded. It could also be a V4 that has no morph channels already set up.

Dial your new morph and there you go. Note that because this is considered a new morph, any clothing you have will not match it automatically.

Which is why Morphing Clothes is needed if you don't have 2014.

or simply "Copy Morphs From" with Poser 2014.

Thanks a lot, Keith!  Been busy trying to finish my character, so much freaking work cause I came up with an idea for an option lol, you'll see once she's released.  Am gonna play with this when I can give myself a break!

ssgbryan, yep, I do have Morphing Clothes and I highly recommended it in all my product promos.  It's a SWELL program!
