I hate to say it, but Bump maps, trans maps, displacement maps and, especially, normal maps should always have a gamma of 1.
Now if you intend to use those images for something else, that is different, but those channels should never be gamma corrected and if there is gamma correction on the images it should be reversed out by the software.
