Quote - I finally set my system up as dual boot with Linux Mint on one disk and my windows 7 on the other. I have already noticed that even thou my graphic card is not up to par for GPU rendering have notcied that the Linux Side does render a bit faster than my Windows side. I have not gotten as far as doing my own build yet but something I do plan on learning how to do as well. the latest release of Blender is the first one I have had that I came across a bug with which is what I described in this thread. But went and got a nighty build and have not been able to reproduce the bug.
YAY!!!!! Well done, Lobo!
I still use Windows a lot, but more and more I'm finding Linux serves my purposes just fine, and it's a lot less "in-your-face" than Windows. Had to reboot 3 times yesterday doing updates before I could finally use Poser (which is the endpoint of all this Blender modelling). I'm curious to see how Windows 10 will be... they promise good things. But it is nice that I'm no longer dependent on one OS. You'll find that things will suddenly become a lot more flexible for you.
Always more than one way to skin a cat...
