Subject: Runtime content dissapearing.

Hoping maybe someone can help me because I've been searching for a week for some anwers.

I have Poser 7 and over the last week one file after another has been dissapearing from my Runtime.

Maybe not so much dissapearing, but every other time I start up my computer they are hidden from the Library.  Mostly it;s custom stuff I've made, modified, figures, expressions etc. If I go into Windows Explorer, they are missing there too.

If I open a PZ3 file that included any of the content, it will load, but I can't use any of them from the Library.  Any ideas?

Thanks.

You can only have 100 items in a list. Not sure if you're hitting that or not, but it makes things "disappear".

Any more than 100 things in a single folder would behave this way.

No longer true with Poser 8+

Quote - If I go into Windows Explorer, they are missing there too.

But you also said this which is not consistent with the 100-item problem.

Regarding this statement, did you ever see your own files (things you made) in explorer?

If not, you probably are running Windows Vista or higher, and you are trying to save thing in Program Files. With UAC enabled, they won't save there. You're not looking in the right folder. (You are looking where you think they are. That's not where they are.)

Google Virtual Store.

I'm running Windows 8 and yes, I have seen my files in explorer.

I thought maybe it was a virus or malware, but I've run scans for both and this problem only seems to be affecting Poser and nothing else and no content I've downloaded, only stuff I've made or modified.

Found everything in the VirtualStore location.  What a bunch of BS.

Do not install user data to the Program Files and Program Files (x86) folders or the ProgramData folder.  You where never suppose to store user data in those and since Vista this is being enforced by UAC.

Poser 7 needs to be installed outside of the Program Files hierarchy in Vista or higher.  You don't need to reinstall; you can just move it elsewhere and reinstall the SR3 update, telling it to keep your preferences,  and it will recreate the shortcuts.

If you don't have it,handy, SR3 can be gotten here...

Moved everything out of Program Files and just made a Poser folder.  The content seems to be restored, though now Poser can't find any of the texture files.

Is there someway to point Poser to the main Texture folder without having to manually set the texture for each component in each scene?

Thanks again for all the help.

Well that problem seemed to have resolved itself.  Hoping it's back to normal.
