I was a long-time Firefox user and liked it a lot, until it just decided that it wasn't going to work anymore, and no amount of uninstalling and reinstalling was going to fix it. It wouldn't play videos on any site for any reason without giving me constant plug-in crashes telling me to install or re-install such n such plug-in, which did no good, and it got to the point where even pages without videos wouldn't load half the time.
I haven't used IE in over 10 years. It's on my PC simply because I'm on a windows OS. I never update it - i think I have it blocked from updating on its own - and if I open it now it acts like I just installed it.
I've been using Chrome for about 5 years now. It's simple and doesn't give me crap, or try to install 3rd party apps and tool bars and such that I don't want and just annoy me.
I did re-install Firefox sometime last week just to check something I was reading about, which I'm regretting as now I have 2 3rd party apps that it installed without my knowledge or consent that I can't uninstall without reverting my system. One is some kind of driver support BS that keeps giving me bogus system scans and telling me all my drivers are out of date - which they are not - and wants to charge me $19.95 a month to fix them. I can download and install my own drivers for free when they're out of date, which I do regularly. So this nonsense about Firefox not installing malware is exactly that - nonsense.
I've never had that trouble with Chrome. It always tells me if something is trying to be installed or trying to change my settings, and gives me the option to block it or remove it. The only thing it does is crash on me once in a while if I have too many tabs open - which is my own fault, as sometimes I can have as many as 30+ tabs open at one time cause I tend to open links in new tabs, as I have to keep an eye on this site while I'm working so a handful of them are usually 'rosity tabs. I also pull up reference images in one tab and move it over to the other monitor so I can work and still keep up with whats going on here.
