1984 was published in.... 1948. Orwell was not predicting the future. As the title tells you, he was commenting on the state of affairs at that time. The only thing that has changed is the technology -- and the fact that we now know it's happening. But it's been going on for a long, long time. :) (There's good evidence that the government of James I knew exactly what Guy Fawkes was up to and may even have instigated the conspiracy -- in 1605. Those dastardly Brits!) [And, I agree with your point, RorrKonn] Should we worry? In my opinion, if you're a Muslim or member of other targeted groups, yes. If you're a political activist or whistleblower, yes. If not, no. Should we do something about it? Yes. But protecting our own individual turf with tech or whatever isn't the answer. The problem requires a population backed political solution. But that's way off topic for this forum. (My apologies. Not intending to start a debate on this particular subject.)
