Again, scary stuff indeed, you're kidding yourselves if you think you only need to protect yourselves if you're a crimninal, and just so you know, it's believed that those with that sort of mentality are especially in danger. This isn't the sort of thing that only bothers criminals, that sort of opinion died long ago, there are now millions upon millions of people around the world aware of what's going on and they're taking steps to protect themselves from it, it's got nothing to do with "tin-hats" and has everything to do with having a brain that fires on all cylinders. People either understand why this stuff is important, or they just don't. Most people will take whatever action they can to protect themselves from it, privacy is a right, not a criminal activity, so people need to quit sitting on their asses, dismissing the products and efforts that are being made by others to help protect you from these corporate, data-mining a-holes.
At the end of the day, the data these a-holes are gathering about you is absolutely NONE of their business. The whole data-mining business has almost nothing at all to do with catching criminals, but everything to do with "data-mining". So like I said, I'll stick to ensuring that my life remains my business, not their business. I do that by using a sensible OS and browser, and unlike most, I am defeating the data-mining by using them, and it's the data-mining that is the biggest problem of all.
Being a human born with a right to privacy, the data-mining is something I take major f*cking issue with and will always protect myself from. Basically, people need to stop acting like idiots and wise-up if they know what's good for them, nobody else will do it for them.
