3D model of a traditional holiday bells, associated with Christmas for a long time.  This model consists of 39,970 polygons and 47,984 vertices. The model has been UV Unwrapped, and comes with UV templates to help create your own texture maps, if desired. However, texture maps are not necessary for this model, as procedural materials in any given render engine will work well for most realistic rendering.  All of the preview renders were done using native procedural maps in 3dsmax, rendered with the Corona render engine.

Available in 3dsmax scene file, and OBJ file formats, for wide range of compatibility.  The .max file is compatible with 3dsmax 2012 or higher.  The OBJ files come scaled specifically for import into various applications.

You are free to use or modify this model as you see fit, for your own rendering projects or scenes. As with all my freebies, the object can be used for both commercial and non-commercial renders. You may NOT, however, resell or redistribute the model or textures, or any derivative of them; individually, or as part of a package/set.

Click Here to download the model from Renderosity Freestuff.

Alternatively, you can also find and download this model from the following resource locations, including additional renders and wire-frame previews:

Turbosquid.com

ShareCG.com

*** OBJ IMPORT INSTRUCTIONS: There are 3 different OBJ files associated with this model, and one MTL file, which defines the material definitions.  You will notice that two of the three OBJ files are labeled for use in specific software applications (Poser and Blender).  For best results, it's highly recommended that you import the correct file to the corresponding software application.

Just lovely - thanks :)

Thank you.  I created the majority of this model last year, but never released it.  I decided to re-model the ribbon with some new techniques I learned this time around.

Your models are always done so professionally.  As a 3d modeller myself, at a hobby level, I always learn something new about meshes just by studying your freebies.  Thanks for this!

Another masterpiece - thank you.

Here's my render in Poser Pro 2014, using procedural materials I made for the prop. I would attach the shaders for downloading, but Renderosity made it impossible to do that anymore - I can only give you pictures. Sorry.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

OMG!  This is rendered in POSER?!  Seriously, I've not seen a velvet material nearly as realistic as you have done with that ribbon!  I've been working on a CYcles render of this object in Blender, and I've really wanted to do a realistic red velvet.  Your ribbon has put all my efforts in Cycles the past few hours to SHAME!! Your ribbon even looks better than the material in Luxxeon's preview!  No offense, Luxxeon, your renders are incredible, but this velvet material made my jaw drop, especially when I know it's done in Poser.  There's some true magicians at work in this thread, folks.  Wow.

VERY excited I finally discovered how to set up a realistic velvet material of my own in Blender Cycles, and couldn't wait to share the results.  I used this freebie in the scene for the material I created.  Took me several hours to come up with a good velvet mateiral, and so I'm very happy I finally nailed it, and it's almost as good as the one in the Poser render I saw here!

One thing I'd like to say is THANKS for this freebie, it was definitely inspiring and fun to play around with, and helped me make my first real holiday Christmas render of the season here.  Totally put me in the holiday spirit!file_0f28b5d49b3020afeecd95b4009adf4c.jp Click this to see the big, detailed version of the render in my gallery!  Please comment, as I'm really excited about the render, and would love to hear your thoughts on it!  I think I'm finally understanding the methods to achieving good materials in Cycles, and getting good results on my own, without having to use preset mateirals, or following material tutorials as much.

Crap!  Looks like the forums reduce the quality of the images posted here!  That sucks!  I see lots of JPEG compression in my post here, which wasn't there in the original version I saved for the forums.  So pleeeaaase check out the one in my gallery, to see how it SHOULD actually look!

Thanks again for the great freebie, and hope to see more from you soon!

Great work, guys.  Bagginsbill, I'm really glad to see you subdivided the bells in your render.  I was debating if I should release the freebie in it's subdivided form, or as a base object.  I ultimately decided to redistribute the base object obviously. I figured it could be used by the end user as a smoothed object, or in it's base form.

Thanks again, the renders look excellent.
