I'm guessing that "work folders" could go anywhere you store data; they're not part of the program files nor the content library. My workstations always have at least one secondary hard drive which has main folders for software downloads, content downloads, 3D projects, and my purchased & homemade Poser content library. Within the 3D projects folder, I have a folder for every modeling/render project. That folder will have modeling files, subfolders for geometries (raw, and UV mapped), material image files, Poser scene files.
If you have just one hard drive, you can make a master 3D projects folder in My Documents.
As for alternative beginner level tuts, my first thought would be Dr Geep. Hopefully, like Beetlejuice, he'll appear in this thread since I mentioned his name. Ah, and aRtBee has already shown up. :) Thank you, aRtBee.
