Same scam has been running here in the UK for years.  In general I never answer the phone, if it is important they can leave a voice mail and I will call them back.  The odd occasions I do answer is when I am waiting for a call so I have had a couple of these over the years.  I always thank them for their interest and tell them I am transferring them to my IT department, end of call.  My wife on the other hand does answer the phone when it rings so falls foul to this and a lot of cold calls, her tactic is to politely ask them to hold as there is someone at the door and then put the phone down next to the radio and leave it.

I am really sorry when this happens to anyone but I really do wish I had the power to make backups for people world wide.  I have personally dealt with this on many occasions and it is heart breaking.  As in this case it is not the software applications it is all the items that cannot be replaced such as photos and anything that has been created by the owner.

 

 

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.
