I also find it hard to accept that there can be such a massive difference depending on what browser you use. I accept that a lot of people would not touch IE under any circumstances but, despite that, it is still used by many, and parts of the site are very difficult to use with IE.
There is good reason people will not touch IE, and with windows 10, Microsoft have ditched the brand as they move to a new browser (http://www.ubergizmo.com/2015/01/project-spartan-is-the-new-windows-10-browser/) the problem is that there can be a massive difference depending on your browser. Some pages won't display correctly in some browsers, some won't display at all. The culprit? bad page design, incomplete / non-existant cross browser processing, etc. So that begs the question, since IE11 will not be supported any longer, What "new and exciting changes will become part of the forum that has become the bane of so many people?"
People became disillusioned with the Renderosity forum design (and by extension, with renderosity) And as they (rightly) felt, that their concerns were not being addressed, and were even being completely ignored, people began to drift away.
Then, add to that, the constant hijacking of poser threads by DAZ fans with the "genesis is your solution to everything." mentality, people were getting upset that they could no longer engage in a meaningful discussion and began to drift away.
I myself, do not often participate in the forum because, for the most part, I don't deal well with stupidity, and sadly, I find the obnoxious, bullyboy tactics employed by a select few to be immature, ignorant and stupid.Say what you will, there can be no doubt that the forum has suffered greatly because the design team (or their bosses) seem to think that it does not matter if they treat their customers concerns as irrelevant,
