Over the years, I'm yet to see a forum change that people actually liked.... then they eventually get used to it and few years later a new one comes along, then that is the one everyone hates.
Its having to change and get used to new stuff that most people hate, especially when it is imposed on them.

I think you missed the point by a wide margin here, people are not going to get used to this change, they are already leaving/have left, nothing to get used to if you no longer frequent the forums.

Not to mention the inability to understand that teaching Poser users how to use the material room with the new limitations is nothing more than an exercise in futility. This is not about change - it's about being shown the door because what you try to do for the community has been made impossible.
