I'm just curious, Shane. How is it forum users are supposed to know these things? Is there some user manual somewhere that we're supposed to be using to post on this software? Because, quite frankly, I've never seen anything like it.....you're copying the background color from a text editor into a forum post? Whaaaaaaaaa? That's as convoluted as anything I have ever seen in my life. You should also probably keep in mind that half of us don't even have any real icons to use, just the missing icon symbol across the top row of any forum post....whether through preference or browser compatibility. One thing is certain.....guessing isn't working.
@Glitterati - Honestly, all I did was just spend some time experimenting with all of it to see how it works. When I see someone mentions this or that isn't working I go and do a test on my own to see if it's really not working or if it's just working differently than it used to. I just figured these things out on my own by experimenting and looking at the various menus when something particular comes up. There's no manual that I'm aware of. There are a lot of features people are saying are broken when they're really not, they just function differently than before. Granted, some things are no longer possible to do and some other things are not functioning the way they're supposed to, but I have not had any actual problems or bugs pop up for me that I can recall recently. I do use Chrome tho, and it seems that a lot of the people experiencing issues are using IE, so I can't comment on the IE experience. Now if you're using some script or plug-in or whatever to block certain browser functionality like flash then that's not the fault of the forum software when those features that require flash don't work as intended. (not trying to be an ass here, but that's kind of like intentionally unplugging a toaster and then complaining that the toaster isn't working). It also helps to state what browser you're using when you do find an issue, or include what browser you're using in your signature, the way many include what version of Poser and OS they're using, so that you don't have to keep restating it.
With all that said, I don't know why it copies the background color from a text editor, except that in a text editor there is a ton of code behind the scenes telling that editor what font to display, size, color, etc. Such as when using something like MSWord. If you're copying text from a plain text editor like notepad then there is no 'hidden' formatting, so all you're going to get is the text you copy and in the default forum font color when you paste it.
I'm not saying there aren't issues with the way the forum is working, I'm just saying a lot of features work differently, some old features have not been implemented - for reasons I can't answer since I have no idea what criteria was used in making these decisions or if any of those features will ever be seen again - and I'm just trying to clarify when certain things are stated as being broken when really they are not, they just work differently. An example would be the archive search feature. I've had no problems searching anyone's posts, going back to 2000 or so. As far as I can tell every post that's ever been made here is still accessible. I posted a tutorial with images in another thread a few weeks back when several were claiming the search feature is broken and none of the old threads could be found. I'll have to dig it back up to remember which thread I posted that in.
